Functional Movement Therapy

 

Functional Movement Therapy sees movement as medicine and empowers individuals to progress towards all-round positive health. The client is seen and worked with as a whole person, not just a bunch of bones and muscles. Treatment includes all aspects of body; breath; and mind, intellect, and emotions and their mutual interaction.

 

As clients increase awareness of and connection to their own body’s patterns of movement and reaction, they build the curiosity and confidence to assume responsibility for eliminating, reducing, or managing symptoms that cause suffering; improving function; helping to prevent the occurrence or reoccurrence of underlying causes of illness; and moving toward improved health and wellbeing. During a session, a client’s movement will be assessed, specific goals will be established and an appropriate practice intervention developed and taught. Those who are eager and recognize they are responsible for their own healing by practicing consistently will benefit more deeply and quickly from functional movement therapy.
